Phonely vs Fleur Telecom: an honest look at both

If your phone line has just moved to Fleur, or you've been with them a while and are wondering what else is out there, this page sets the two side by side.

It's written for anyone comparing landline-only deals who wants a straight answer. We've tried to be fair: where Fleur does something well, we say so, and where we couldn't find a figure, we say that too rather than guessing.

The short version: Fleur is a broadband company that will also sell you a phone line. Phonely only does landlines, and builds scam protection into them.

Fleur Telecom packages and prices, next to ours

Why we ask for your bill rather than quote a saving

Fleur prices its home phone as line rental plus a call bundle. Phonely prices it as one monthly figure with calls included.

The catch in comparing them is that the roughly 13,500 households moved from TalkTalk on 1 September 2026 kept their TalkTalk pricing, so Fleur's own price list doesn't tell you what you pay. Your bill does. Fleur's standalone line rental isn't published on its website, and we'd rather leave a gap than fill it with a guess.

What we can tell you is Fleur's published call bundles: £3 for 100 landline plus 100 mobile minutes, £5 for 300 plus 100, £7 for 500 plus 100, £4 for evening and weekend, and £8 anytime. Those sit on top of your line rental.

What would it cost me?

Fleur doesn't publish a standalone line rental and transferred customers all pay something different, so use your own figure from your bill.

What Fleur Telecom reviews say (and ours)

Review scores are a starting point, not a verdict, and both companies have customers with good and bad experiences. Fleur's Trustpilot page is one of the first things transferred customers look up, so here is the picture on 10 September 2026, stated fairly.

Fleur Telecom and TalkTalk: who owns whom

Fleur Telecom is one of several brands run by Telecom Acquisitions Ltd, alongside Home Telecom, Hive and Eclipse Broadband. TalkTalk has held a controlling stake in Telecom Acquisitions since November 2022.

The group specialises in taking on customer bases from other providers, and the roughly 13,500 TalkTalk households moved on 1 September 2026 are the most recent example. Telecom Acquisitions has said it has the resources to migrate copper customers to digital services faster than TalkTalk could itself. In practice, those customers have moved brand but not group.

Phonely is an employee-owned, independent UK company. We only do one thing, which is digital landlines, and we built the business around keeping older people connected and safe from scam calls. That focus is the main difference between us.

Phonely digital landline and scam protection

Which is right for you?

Fleur may suit you if

  • You'd rather have broadband and phone on one bill from one company, and you're happy with what you pay today.
  • You'd prefer to let your provider handle the move to digital voice for you, in their own time.
  • A landline that keeps working in a power cut matters to you today, and you don't yet have a battery backup or a mobile.

Phonely may suit you if

  • You want to keep your broadband where it is and choose your landline provider separately.
  • Scam-call protection matters to you, or to a parent or relative you look out for.
  • You'd rather be ready for the January 2027 switch-off now, on your own timetable, with your own number.
  • You like the idea of a company owned by the people who answer the phone.

Frequently asked questions

Phonely vs Fleur Telecom: leaving, pricing, adapters and the switch-off

Yes. Fleur became your provider on 1 September 2026 when TalkTalk transferred your account, but you're free to move your landline elsewhere. If your original TalkTalk minimum term has ended there's no early termination charge, and most long-standing copper customers are out of term.

If you're still within a minimum term, Fleur may charge one, so check your last TalkTalk contract date or ask Fleur on 0333 320 4020. If Fleur later raises prices or changes your terms in a way that isn't to your benefit, Ofcom rules give you a window to leave without penalty.

Keeping your number is included, and we arrange the transfer from Fleur for you. There are no forms for you to fill in and no engineer visit. Your current line keeps working until the move completes, so you're never without a phone.

No new phone. Your existing handset plugs into a small Fanvil GA11 adapter, and the adapter plugs into your router. It's free on CallGuard plans and on annual payment, and available to buy on the Digital Landline plan. Almost any ordinary corded or cordless phone works; if you're not sure about yours, ring us on 0800 112 5000 and we'll check.

It depends on what you pay now, because transferred customers kept their TalkTalk pricing and Fleur doesn't publish a standalone line rental. Phonely Digital Landline is £9.97 a month with 1,600 UK minutes included — 800 to UK landlines and 800 to UK mobiles — on an 18-month plan, rising to £11.97 a month from 1 April 2027. Fleur sells calls as separate bundles from £3 to £8 a month on top of line rental. Pop your current line rental into the box above and we'll show you the difference.

We could find no scam-call or nuisance-call protection listed on Fleur's product pages or service FAQs when we checked on 10 September 2026. Phonely's CallGuard plans block known scam numbers before your phone rings, play an anti-fraud introduction to suspicious callers, and can alert a nominated family member who can join the call if needed.

No. Phonely works over any UK broadband connection, including Fleur's, so you keep it exactly as it is and move only the phone service. You do need a working internet connection at home, though. If you have no broadband at all, a digital landline isn't the right fit yet, and we'd rather tell you that than sell you something that won't work.

Like all digital landlines, Phonely needs power and broadband to work, so it won't work during a power cut unless you have a battery backup. Fleur's copper lines usually keep working, which is a genuine advantage today and one that ends at the switch-off. If you or someone in your home relies on the landline for a pendant alarm or has no mobile phone, tell us when you sign up and we'll talk through the options. Our offline alerts also let you and your trusted contact know if the line ever goes down.
