Sent me a clearly falsified voicemail that ‘legal action was going to be taken’ against me for no clear reason?

Phones everyday. I never answer. No message left on answering machine.

Called repeatedly, silent each time and then hung up. Very frustrating nuisance behaviour.

Sounded convincing, but when I asked about tech issues he went quiet, he eventually dropped the line. He assumed I was business line user and tried to talk about fibre install I gave no identifiable information No call back Co-incidental I had corrspondence from BT along with account this mornings post - hence sounding genuine until tech queries. Offering FREE digital phone(s) - just to good to be believed although I have knowledge that BT do this on occasions. Caveat Emptor !

Caller stated engineer would be coming to change over house phone to fibre-optic connection (I had previusly been told by my provider that this would happen during the year). He asked for a mobile number so they could advise when the work would be done. I said to use the existing landline number. He insisted that they could only contact a mobile number. Hung up.

They didn't answer for a few seconds after I picked the phone up. I could hear the usual call centre chatter in the background. The man at the other end claimed to be from BT Business. I said I wasn't interested and put the phone down. He rang straight back but I let it ring out.

CLEARLY A SCAM CALL. Unknown cold callers should never be trusted and this one matched the usual scam patterns exactly.
