rang my business saying they were scottish power and the recent attempt to read our meter suggested our metr readings were high and we were confused with another meter. - well we are not with scottish power, and the Mpan number he had was not ours, - he said our meter was hard to read and damaged. News to me as ours is new and is read remotely - but checked by us monthly and its in a very secure location. total scam. Because he got nowhere with me - and his english was poor he put his supervisor on, he gave me the full becuase of gdpr we cant confirm your supplier details so if you would please then we can discuss the problem. I said if you already know our supplier you would know our meter is new and that you have the wrong mpan number and i hung up. Definetly up to something

Same experience as other people have reported saying they are from british gas and asking for the mpan number of our gas meter and we could get it from our last bill I got a bit suspicious when they gave me the wrong amount for our last bill but they said they just needed to update their system with our correct details when they weren't getting anywhere they transferred me to their supervisior who tried again to get the mpan number this is a scam they have tried to phone me again today but i didn't answer I'm 99% sure this is a scam so don't give any information as I'm not sure what they would use it for

Another one here - harrassing our apprentice to give Meter number etc, called six times since she already told them not to call back. We ahve blocked the number.

Called saying they were from British Gas and they'd had complaint about our meter and she needed me to check invoice for MPAN number. I asked for our account number or invoice number to prove that she was from British Gas and she couldn't, just kept asking me to check MPAN number. Don't know what they get from this but it's definitely HARRASSING. We get these calls couple of times a week and they're annoying, we've got work to do!

We are a business they called yesterday claiming to be EON, told them we are not an EON customer they called back today claiming to be British Gas. When I hung up on them they called back twice, maybe Monday the will call claiming to be Scottish Power. Scammers!

Just received a call from 01780 510357 claiming to be from British Gas asking me to confirm information about our account, which I refused to do. The male caller, who was from the sub-continent, repeatedly asked for my MPAN as he claimed they had a glitch in the customer service centre and some info was missing, which raised my suspicions. I said the details are the same as they had always been but he repeatedly asked me to geta bill to confirm the information, which I refused to do. Total scammers, BEWARE!

Scam claiming to be British Gas and wanting to book an engineer to come on site to check the meter. Read out the correct MPAN number and knew the address but could not confirm our account number so I hung up. Had a webchat with genuine British Gas and they confoirmed it is a scam - they do not ring up for info and this is not their number

Had a call from this number saying they were from British Gas and there was a problem with a meter reading being confused with another account. They had our meter numbers and address but when I asked for proof he was from BG he hung up. I contacted BG and they confirmed is was not them. Number will be blocked

Got a call saying they handle home repairs funded by the council. Asked for my address and payment method right off the bat. Felt super suspicious so I just blocked em.
