A man with an Asian accent phoned saying he represented our energy supplier Yu Energy. He mentioned technical problems with the account. I cut him off because it sounded dodgy and hung up. Definitely avoid this one.

Called saying was british gas and could they speak to the person in charge of the billing. If they were british gas they would have known who was in charge of the billing. Hung up before they had a chance to say anything else.

Lady with a South Asian accent claiming to be from British Gas, stating there had been a complaint from Ofgem regarding our meter. Apparently the meter readings were consistently incorrect as the meter was a single rate meter but the readings were for an half hourly meter!!!! We requested all information was put in a letter to us including dates & names to which she agreed & asked to confirm if the email address she had was correct (obviously not). At this point we stated the call was a scam & we would be reporting to the police, she asked if I was really sure about that, we replied yes absolutely, she hung up. DO NOT CONFIRM ANY DETAILS WITH THEM & IF POSSIBLE DO NOT USE YES & NO AS ANSWERS TO THEM EITHER.

Claims to be from Scottish Power saying we haven't paid our bill. I told them we are not with Scottish Power and so they asked who our provider is. I refused to answer. This is a dangerous scam and this number should be blocked

Indian lady claiming to be from British Gas giving the readily available meter info and asking for contract details because of a 'glitch'. Pretty persistent even after I kept her on hold for 15 minutes

Claimed to be from British Gas and telling me our meter wasn’t working properly!! Looked up the number calling while i was on the phone and she hung up as soon as i said i’d searched the number and she was a scammer!!! Don’t speak to these people!!

Claimed to be from British Gas Lite wanting me to check my last invoice, but unable to provide any proof of where they were from other the MPRN (easily obtainable from internet). A bit aggressive.

Attempted to get me to give them my security codes for my O2 account under pretence of working for O2 and helping with a SIM changeover- I refused and hung up. I contacted the actual O2 services afterwards and they confirmed it was a scam call.
