They call multiple times at the same time using a landline but it doesn't ring .. then they follow up using various mobile numbers to get you to call them back .. they have done this several times .. I think they also do the same thing from different dialling codes

Indian man (Peter) called saying from Total energies metering Dept & there was a problem with our account & our MPAN showing a different company, tried to get me confirming details and asking for contract end dates, told him if he wanted that info to speak to his own company and he hung up.

Indian Lady claiming to be Positive Energy saying postcode is incorrect but did have my correct meter number?

Indian man claiming to be from Eon, problem with our meter. Googled the number, told him this was a scam number and hung up.

calling from "British Gas" metering department wanted information from my latest bill to check everything ok as there was a problem i said you are british gas you send my bills so you have that info he said the metering department dont have that information i said well speak to the department your end that does he said that takes too long! ha ha when i said you are not from British gas he hung up on me. I have checked this with British gas before to ask what that info gets them as they dont ask for bank details or anything obvious apparently they use that info to set up fake contracts in your company's name and claim commission.

Claimed to be from Smartest Energy, scam

Claimed to be from British Gas wanted me to check the number on my bill was the same as the number they had. When I explained that they sent me the bill so surely they could check that number before they sent the bill and told her she was talking nonsense, she put the phone down on me!

Indian gentleman saying he was from Npower, and that there was a problem with our meter...... very serious that we get this is sorted, i googled the number, its a scam, told him i wouldn't give him any information, he put the phone down.
