01217947531 (and other numbers): I have had calls like this before, and followed through to find out what the fraudulent payload is. The caller first asks for your age - they concentrate on confused old people. There is an offer to have a cheap service contract for all your appliances. This is probably from an overseas "phishing farm" that can't be traced, and ignores TPS ban on cold calls. If you express an interest and are a genuine likely victim, the call is transferred to a genuine, if extremely dodgy, UK company offering service contracts, who will try to set up a direct debit. When you read in the news about confused old people who are paying for multiple direct debit service contracts for the same appliance, or ones they don't even have, and contracts which aren't honoured when something goes wrong, this is how they are set up.
