Caller purported to be from British Gas Lite to arrange a technician visit for a faulty smart meter. It was plausible as our business has been having meter read problems. Caller took address, meter code, detail of current contract and made a bogus appointment that never took place. On calling BGL they confirmed it was fake. No direct financial compromise but BGL advised that the caller could renew our supply contract to a broker or other supplier for commission etc. I stopped it by renewing a further year with BGL to block outside interference

They called about loft insulation and wouldnt stop talking about a fake government scheme. Got rude when I said no. Felt like harassment, not a real offer.
