I have now twice received a text from this number which claimed on first occasion to be Nationwide stating there was a possible unauthorised transaction on my account and to text N or Y as to whether I recognised it (
An amount and retailer was stated.) I replied no and within minutes I was contacted by someone stating he was from the bank, trying to get me to elaborate on details of my account. I told him I’d ring back on a trusted number for the bank and hung up…the number he called on was private. I flagged up the scam to my bank and contacted my phone provider and blocked the number linked to the text above. Several days on I’ve had yet another text claiming there is an unauthorised payment on my Amazon account. I’ve blocked the number again ( same number) and contacted my phone provider. This is a scam to extort money from vulnerable people.
