Similar to another experience, claimed to be JL card, needing me to approve a ‘refund’ payment on the app. Also declined payment and then ignored the further calls. Worrying they had my phone / email / card number.

I was called and told he was from First Direct Fraud team. He went on to tell me that a pre-authorisation payment had been requested and that I needed to go onto my banking app and accept the refund he was attempting to put through, strange that it said it was a payment not a refund. I strung him along for about 10 minutes or so telling him I would be doing as he asked, when he realised I declined instead of accepted the request he called me a very nasty name and hung up. I like to think that while I am keeping these fraudsters busy on the phone it stops them from harassing someone else who may fall for their scheme.

Adam claimed to be from John Lewis Credit Cards investigating a possible fraudulent payment to AirBnB. They had my card number, CVC, mobile member and email address. Their number was flagged on my phone as suspected spam. I hung up to contact the credit card company direct. Shocked that John Lewis has no out of hours fraud line.

Claimed to be from John Lewis Credit Card fraud department.
Said they had stopped some payments from AirBNB as suspicious. Knew my address and the CVC number on the back of my card and did not ask me for any personal details. They used this as proof that they were genuine. They say they are refunding you and they need you to authorise the refund on your credit card app.
They managed to get a payment request for 4k+ onto my app which I declined despite them insisting it was not a payment, it was a refund! I can see how easy this would be to fall for with them insisting that if you don't authorise the refund the payment will be taken later. No bank would ever contact you like this.
Just hang up and report to your card company.
