unknown number rang me, I picked it up but didn't speak, after 10sec call disconnected
- this is usually a nuicance/scam/unsolicited sales call : they have an automated system which just rings numbers, then if it gets an answer (any answer, it's called 'a barker', it doesn't understand what you say, it just recognises it as a human voice answering - even if you woof at it !) then it'll connect you to the next free human operator who'll run through his scam sales patter.
If it gets an answering machine or doesn't hear an answer, it disconnects.
If there are no free operators to talk to you, it disconnetcs - hence why you might get these calls that just hang-up, they don't have anyone free to try to scam you !
