this number has called me several times, but I haven't answered - they don't give up. Rang again a few minutes ago, so thought I'd check it out

Called stating they had previously sent a letter from HMRC Knew a reasonable company name, but this would have been publicly available from companies house. Stated they wanted to know some yes or no questions, I declined but very persistant. Told him I wasn't interested.

Claimed to be from HMRC asking about company data. Obvious scam as not clear on reasons for calling

She said Research company for hmrc. Didn’t wanna be part of it and hanged up, so don’t know real or not.

Claimed to be hmrc. I hung up. Hmrc don't use this number and wouldn't call anyone directly like this. It's hard enough to get to speak with hmrc when you call them, never mind them having the staff to call you. It's a scam.

scam asking about a company from years ago - all lies it is a scam

A lady called, mumbled her name as Hershey from the HMRC Tax office, looking for the person responsible for paying the company tax bill. When i asked her what company name is she talking about, she couldnt give a name, When I asked for her number so that I could get my accountant to call her back, she avoided and said her office would call back.

Sounded legitimate claiming it was a survey with no need for personal details, However, he wasn't very patient when I explained I wasn't comfortable giving my email address, saying there's nothing they can do with email address. When I suggested there was plenty of danger giving this out he quickly ended the call.
