Getting these calls a few times a week now, so fed up of them. Claims to be from British Gas, not sure what they gain from keep calling saying the same thing but its really irritating when you're trying to get on with your work!

Keeps ringing to say from different utilities providers saying problem with meter reading. Doesn't matter what you tell him, he just keeps ringing back to try get a different person. In the end, going off comments on here, told him it was a scam and I was putting phone down. Rang back straight away, my colleague answered. Having heard all the conversations, he told him straight and put phone down.

Called me once yesterday claiming to be from Eon saying issues with my meter and engineer needed to come and check it so i hung up. Rang again today claiming to be from ENW about same issue when i challenged him (indian accent) he said my invoice's have errors that needed fixing i hung up and he rang me straight back then claiming to be from my provider which he did not name and said i MUST listen to him so i told him not to ring me again and hung up.

Called 5 times in 12 hours, pushy, rude and put the phone down when challenged!

Claiming to be from british gas lite asking me for the MPRN number from my bill or face a £5000 bill due to a system error. I put the phone down and rang the supplier direct who confirmed it was a scam.

Claiming to be from British Gas, conveniently they're all sat right next to each other to transfer to their "supervisor" I dare say in a crammed room in India. I prefer to play them at their own game than give them any information.

Someone pretending to be from an energy company kept ringing after I already told them no. I have caller ID so I just ignored them but it got irritating.

WE GET THIS SAME SCOTTISH POWER SCAM CALL AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK. even have the cheek to tell me if i do not confirm my MPAN number and my bill s go up, it is my fault, note we are on a fixed rate.

Claimed to be from Scottish Power stating that we had a problem with our meters, which was causing an overlap with another customer. He said that our bills will be higher if we didnt sort it out, he wanted me to confirm details from a previous bill so he could sort out a refund for us. When I stated I would check for myself and phone SP back he said he was from the metering department and couldn't accept incoming calls and he would have to phone me back at a time when I could have a bill to hand. I informed him that if this is a geniune problem then SP would know about it and if I called them they would be able to help me with any problems, quite pushy about it all but did back down

Claims to be from British Gas, been ringing for multiple days

Caller said he was calling from EDF Energy, we are not with them. He kept saying he needs to speak with someone regarding our meters so the best way to throw them off is ask for a password that you have with them and that's when the fun starts, they get very wound up insisting to speak with someone, so again I ask for the password before I can put them through. After a little while I tell them we are not with EDF and they back off and go away.

Pretending to be from British Gas, always asks lots of questions so they can record me saying YES. Disgusting individuals that ought to be ashamed of themselves. Once I'm bored of listening to his dribble I burp down the phone at them. Always makes me feel a bit better.

Calls every day from a slightly different number, always same Asian guy claiming to be from Scottish Power. Will not leave their number to call back and refuses to send an email. He rudely demands to speak to accounts regarding upcoming invoices.

Purporting to be from British Gas, tried getting us to login into a link that they'd sent to change our password, saying there is a problem with our invoices (there is not). Also mentioned the Energy Redress Scheme (a government scheme that has not appointed any companies to act on their behalf. Definely a call to avoid.

Received a call from 01980 682334 claiming to be from EDF meter reading department. We get a lot of weekly calls from scammers pretending to be EDF so i quickly ended the call.

saying they were from British Gas meter reading department and there was glitch in the system recognise the voice from yesterday but a completely different number. I live near Amesbury and I know there are no British Gas offices there.

Caller said I was due a free SIM card. When I questioned it, they stumbled and couldn’t explain. It was all scripted and didn’t feel like a real mobile provider.
