Dangerous number

I was called 18 Feb 2026 and informed that my SIM card in my mobile phone would stop working from 19 February 2026. I told the female caller I didn't believe it was true. She insisted it was, because it was 'outdated'. I asked where she was calling from and she said EE and O2, which had merged. When I pointed out that the contact details displayed on my phone weren't those which usually show for EE, she said it was because there were many contact points and numbers for EE, not just Customer Services. When I asked her which company she had mentioned she was calling from when she first called (something Media), she declined to say. She had earlier in the call told me that I didn't need to do anything about replacing my SIM, it would all be done for me. I repeated this and said therefore I didn't need to do anything. She then ended the call (politely). Almost certainly phishing for info to scam me financially in some way, but I didn't panic as she presumably hoped.

I am saying this is dangerous number as having read comments about it it seems to be used for scams. My call was from an Asian sounfingnlady purporting to be from auto something which she then said was about sim card. I couldn't grasp whst shexwas tslking about and she then hung up.

Voicemail instructed me to leave my name and number to opt out of calls. This is a common tactic used by nuisance callers to collect details.

Very polite introduction designed to put me at ease. Apparently eligible for solar panel installation. Asked if I was the home owner. At that point I said good bye and disconnected

Mentioned window inspections and door safety checks. Conversation followed a known scam script.
