Received an unsolicited call asking, “Are you the man of the house?”
The caller then said my home appliance insurance is coming down and began asking questions about the make of my fridge, washing machine, and cooker.
They claimed people over a certain age could get a discount and asked for my year of birth, then followed up by asking for my last name and postcode.
At that point I said, “Hang on — you should already have this information if you’re my provider,” and the caller didn’t give a clear answer. I hung up immediately.
I only gave my year of birth and last name. The whole call felt suspicious — no company name, vague reason for calling, and clear attempts to collect personal information. Definitely looks like a scam call pretending to offer appliance insurance discounts.
