Pretending to be from Smartest Energy and supposedly our readings are wrong and for another nearby property, plus he couldn't provide info he should have been able to , eg our account / reference number with them, clearly a scammer.
Couldn't even understand when I told him I had googled the (above) number he was calling from and he was definitely a chancer, he still thought I was talking about the MPAN and told me it was wrong, utter moron!

We have had 2 calls from this number this week, one claiming they were from our supplier EON and the second from our supplier British Gas. Both times they claimed that our smart meter reading hadn't registered correctly. That could be because we don't have one. Complete scam artists, someone should do something to stop these blatantly bogus calls.

As others on here, the difficult to understand person claimed to be from e.on wanting me to check a bill as they were unable to get a read, when I persisted with questions they hung up. All they could give was an MPan number not a MSN so quite obviously not from the utility supplier.

Rang constantly all morning, finally I answered. Claiming to be from Eon Next, same as before, account mixed up, blip in system etc and needed to send an engineer out next week. Gave meter number, address and an approximate reading but then asked for the date the contract expires. I have experienced this scam before and told them I knew what they were doing by trying to get all our details to cancel our account with Eon and put us on their own, more expensive contract. He tried very persistently to tell me "no mam" and so I told him if he is genuine, he can send an email to our accounts department and then told him to stop ringing or I would report him and that I will be contacting Eon to advise them of what is happening.

Called saying that our meter readings had been mixed up with someone else's, saying they are from British Gas. Then asking for information from our meter. got aggressive when questioned . strong asian acccent

Claimed to be from EON - told me my meter reading was coming up as Invalid and asked me to get my bill to confirm details
when I told them I would call Eon back as I didn't have time to speak they said they will call back late so I didn't need too. Hung up when I was persistent

Called saying that our meter readings had been mixed up with someone elses, saying they are from British Gas. Then asking for information from our meter. Once we questioned him he kept saying he was getting confused.

Guy with an Asian accent claimed to be from British Gas, talking about meter readings. We just got a new meter, so it made no sense. Sounded super fishy, so I blocked them.

Said they were EDF Energy and their engineer had put the wrong meter read into their system, they have rung 4 times, same man with strong Asian accent. Number now blocked.

Another scam call claiming to be british gas. Knew too much information, but all slightly incorrect. We have been getting these calls daily. Surely an information breach somewhere.

Pretending to be from Smartest Energy - asking for lots of information that my supplier would already have known. I checked with Smartest Energy - it is a scam

said they were british gas and their engineer had put the wrong meter read into their system. they asked too many questions and when they said they were passing me to a more superior person I knew its one of those call centres not from UK. British Gas confirmed its a scam

Caller was pushy about a loft insulation offer. They wouldnt give clear details and got annoyed when I said no. Felt like harassment, not a real offer. Dont trust.
