I received a call asking whether I had recently completed a survey for Boots. The caller claimed to be from my bank and proceeded to quote the last four digits and expiry date of my credit card, as well as the first six digits of my bank account number. They then informed me that I had been the victim of a scam. For “security reasons,” they said they would call me via WhatsApp and instructed me to hang up and answer that call instead. When I received the WhatsApp call, it displayed what appeared to be the bank’s logo in the centre of the screen. I was told to tap the logo, which brought up an option to share my screen. At that point, I became suspicious and immediately ended the call.
