Call unanswered because number not recognised - ‘Nuisance!’ appeared above telephone number on screen, ironically - research bears out suspicion of it being a scam call. Number blocked.

Scammers trying to rob us. Sadly, these scams work and the naive uninformed get robbed. To help protect them and help reduce the volume of fake calls texts and that hit the UK every day, report all of them onto the official police/Ofcom systems set up to deal with them. Text phone call number and details (including silent calls) to 7726. Repeat when instructed to confirm. Also report on the phone's spam report facility. Forward texts to 7726 AND report on the text spam report facility AND email a screenshot to 'report@phishing.gov.uk'. Forward scam emails to 'report@phishing.gov.uk' AND report on the email phishing report system: 3 dots right corner. All reports should be actioned but multiple reports on all report systems will ensure all appropriate agencies are alerted to the scam and action IS taken. Google 7726 and 'report@phishing.gov.uk' for more info. Check all the results. Then post about it on this site.

Same as everyone else. Someone trying to send me a call blocking device. I asked for their website address. She cave me a URL that didn't work. I asked why she was giving me a dead website address. She said she would send me a letter with it on. I asked why she needed to send me a letter with a website address on. She hung up. Scam written all over it

Received a call from this number this morning female sounding british told me my name and started to say that they could stop unwanted call. At that point i laughed and said you are obviously a scammer she put down the phone

The caller confirmed my name and address to me then told me that my call-blocking device would be arriving in a few days and that it had been significantly reduced in price. She advised that she would be transferring me to her manager to confirm things, and when I said that I didn't recall ordering or paying for such a device she said not to worry as that had all gone through. The line then went dead and nobody picked it up for me to tell them that I believed it was a scam.

Woman said she was ringing from UKCallGuard allegedly wanting to block unwanted calls. She seemed confused when I asked how I could block her unwanted call. I asked if she had heard of TPS whereupon she hung up. Tried to ring back but message said unable to take call.

I base this assessment purely upon the details provided by your previous advisers. Because I received a call from this number just now, and as it was unknown to me I didn't answer it but allowed it to go to voicemail. The caller hung up immediately, so clearly had no direct interest in speaking to me. I regard any such action as dangerous and this seems to be borne out by previous callers.

Man with a thick non-Asian accent, possibly Eastern European, checking that I was the home owner (he knew my address) and saying that he could see that I’d had a lot of nuisance calls, and would be sending an up-dated call-blocking device (I don’t have one to update). I’d be charged a one-off fee of £179. I hung up.

When I answered the phone, there was just silence, so I repeated my number twice but it made no difference, so I hung up. I get so fed up with these silent calls ….especially when I have to interrupt what I’m doing to answer it.

Call blocking scam wanting an address to send a call blocking device. Even if a device was sent you should never ever plug in anything to your phone line / router that comes from a non-trusted source.

Asian caller offering call blocker which was to cost £172 a year but a special rate as I am elderly. They knew about a recent entry on my Virgin record which suggests they have gained access to the Virgin server. BEWARE.

Called my friend to say he would set up a service to stop nuisance calls. She couldn't hear him properly so passed the phone to me. He said he would send a device to plug in where the landline was. Then he said there were no fees but she could have it at a reduced one off payment of £179 . I ended the call.

Same as above, didn’t want to repeat co name. Couldn’t tell me my provider. When told that they have wrong person, they then asked who they were talking to and I then said they were talking to fraud department, told them that number is being investigated and line went dead.

Got a call from this number. Guy saying he was calling from Callguard. Offering me a call blocker to protect me from unsolicited call. I told him I could get call blocking from my telephone service provider. He said that I would have to pay for that and what I am getting now is free and the basic. He asked if I was a pensioner. I told him, No (I am retired though). He asked if I was over 50. I said, Yes. He said I was entitled to a pensioner discount, bringing the price down from £300+ to £170+. He asked for my bank payment details so he could send the Callguard. When I repeated that I could get call blocking from my provider, he said, Yes, but I would have to pay for it. I said I would have to pay Callguard over £170 for their device as well, what was the difference? He kept saying that I wouldn't have to pay monthly. I asked for his company's main number. He gave me 0203769722. I said I'd ckeck with my provider. He anded the call. I called the number he gave me. Doesn't exist!
