Called pretending energy provider about contract renewal with lower rates. But to "lock it in" needed my direct debit details updated on the spot. I asked for email confirmation and they balked. These guys are pros at building trust fast then striking. I wasted their time by feeding fake info until they caught on and bailed. If you get hit, reverse search the number and add to your block list. In a world full of these pests, vigilance is our best defense against losing hard-earned cash to smooth-talking crooks.
