An automated call about suspicious activity on my card, overseas payments, did say which card, which bank, but to press one to discuss. I know our bank would not do this so just put phone down.

Automated call saying I’d had two payments taken from my card (300+ and £1,000 plus). I hung up. My bank would not approach me like this and I don’t suppose anyone else’s would!

Left automated message saying to charges had been made to my card, one for £1000, one for £3000 and as they weren’t sites I have used before, press 1 to authorise or 2 to speak to someone. Obviously didn’t press anything.

Caller claimed to from ‘Bank Payments’ wanted authorisation to pay two bills from ‘companies you’ve not traded with before’ and gave two payment requests for £300 and£1000. Became obvious to me it was a scan when I remember my bank has no such department! But it did sound convincing using a lady with a smart, English accent.
